The Turtle, a sacred figure in Indigenous culture, adorns the pouch with profound meaning. It carries the four colors of the Medicine Wheel, each representing significant elements that vary among tribes. The design also features seven circles, which stand for the seven teachings of the people. Within each of these circles, a bird is depicted, symbolizing the messengers of the Creator.
